Poster Design is something I love doing, but haven’t done a whole lot of yet. I want very badly to work more with these types of design layouts. My favorite of what I’ve done so far is a simple See America Style poster for Montana as seen here. I illustrated this block print style design on Illustrator using many other images to create the subject and background of the design.
The thing I get most lost in, happily zoned out perfecting every last pixel, and obsessed with getting it just right, is the art of laying out the printed page. What is the most effective way to communicate the content and grab the readers attention? This is the most unexpected love of my professional life. It might even sound boring to most people, but I get lost in it so much, that my dream job is to work on a magazine, laying out their pages for print.
Like many others, doodling was the spark that lit my fire for graphic design. It remains one of my favorite things to do with illustrator, which is rendering those doodles in illustrator and applying them to the art of communication by design.
I studied at Everett Community College and obtained both my Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design, and my Associates of Technical Arts Degree in Business Administration with high distinction in 2020. In the Spring of 2020 I served as Everett Community College's Annual Arts Publication, Vibrations, as Art Director. I'm very proud of the edition we put out, working on it 100% remotely from home.
My passion started out like most peoples do, and that is by doodling on bits of paper throughout my life. I realized that I needed to pursue a career in Graphic Design when, after looking at one of my doodles, my boss told me I was in the wrong profession and that I should pursue a career in the arts. It took me a long time to realize my raw talent and confidence to pursue it. Nothing makes me happier then spending hours meticulously perfecting each tiny detail of my work. I'm a profectionist when it comes to my work, and I rather quite enjoy it.
